A. Karegar et E. Geraert, DESCRIPTIONS OF FILENCHUS-PARAVESICULOSUS SP. N. AND 3 OTHER SPECIES OF THE GENUS FIENCHUS ANDRASSY, 1954 (NEMATA, TYLENCHIDAE) FROM IRAN, Nematologica, 44(3), 1998, pp. 225-239
One new and three known species of the genus Filenchus with two latera
l lines were found in the rhizosphere of wild and cultivated plants fr
om Iran. Filenchus paravesiculosus sp, n. is characterised by its smal
l size, 425-510 mu m; lateral field with two lines; cuticle coarsely s
triated; conoid-rounded head with 1-2 annuli, and amphidial apertures
longitudinal slits, relatively short ovary, offset and elongate sperma
theca, and elongate-conoid tail with broadly rounded terminus. F. para
vesiculosus sp. n. differs from F. vesiculosus by having shorter style
t (6.0-7.5 mu m vs 9-11 mu m). It can be distinguished from F. faculta
tivus, F. acris and F. neoparvus by the shape of tail terminus (broadl
y rounded vs filiform to finely rounded) and having different head sha
pe. Variation of the amphidial apertures is discussed. Filenchus forti
s is a new record for Iran.
