Abstract
Some features of ecology of Amicula vestita from the Chaun Bay in the East-Siberian Sea were studied. In the conditions of small sea aquariu m we observed chitons consuming heavy fractions of oil together with t he finest periphyton that were settled on bitumen surfaces. Molluses r educed the particles of heavy petrolium materials to smaller fractions making them accessible for bacteria.
