Polarized infrared reflectivity spectra of SrLaAlO4 and SrLaGaO4 singl
e crystals were obtained at room temperature between 30 and 2000 cm(-1
). All the spectra were fitted with the factorized form of the dielect
ric function. The number of observed polar phonons is higher than corr
esponds to the prediction from the factor-group analysis because of th
e disorder of strontium and lanthanum atoms and two-phonon absorption.
