The quadrupole interaction in Au-In compounds of different stoichiomet
ries was studied with the perturbed angular correlation technique. The
electric field gradients at Cd-111 probes were measured and the tempe
rature dependences of the quadrupole frequencies were determined. A ne
w high temperature phase of AuIn above 630 K and a new metastable modi
fication of Au7In3 were found.
