Yp. Lee et al., A STUDY OF 2-PHASE INJECTOR PERFORMANCE FOR DIRECT-INJECTION STRATIFIED-CHARGE ENGINES, Atomization and sprays, 8(2), 1998, pp. 199-215
The application of direct-injection stratified-charge (DISC) engines h
as been limited by the unsatisfactory atomization performance of exist
ing fuel injectors, although if has great possibilities for improved f
uel economy and low emissions through lean combustion. it two-phase in
jector for DISC engines was developed, which produced a good-quality s
pray. Injector performance was checked to investigate the spray struct
ure and the optimal conditions in terms of design variables and operat
ing parameters. This air-assisted injector exhibited stable behavior a
t speeds up to 6000 rpm and produced a finely atomized spray of 14.9 m
u m in Sauter mean diameter.
