An analysis is made of the change in entropy in the glass transition p
rocess. It is shown that although the entropy of glass transition is l
ess than that of melting, it is no more than two orders of magnitude s
maller. The main results are obtained without using the conditions of
local equilibrium, which are not satisfied for the glassy state. (C) 1
