Abstract
Multigram quantities of arsenobetaine bromide and arsenocholine iodide were synthesized from trimethylarsine using uncomplicated techniques. Arsenobetaine bromide and arsenocholine iodide are both non-hygroscop ic. Arsenocholine iodide is, however, light-sensitive and should be us ed with actinic glassware. Both compounds were characterized by elemen tal and spectroscopic techniques and found to be suitable for use as p rimary analytical standards. (C) 1998 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
