Abstract
Agosterol A (1) has been isolated from a marine sponge of Spongia sp. and the absolute stereostructure elucidated. Agosterol A (1) is a nove l polyhydroxylated sterol acetate, which completely reverses multidrug resistance in human carcinoma cells caused by overexpression of two k inds of membrane glycoprotein.
