Ph. Regan et al., ANOMALOUS BAND-CROSSINGS IN THE N=57 ISOTONES PD-103 AND CD-105, Journal of physics. G, Nuclear and particle physics, 19(11), 1993, pp. 157-162
High-spin states of the N = 57 isotones, Pd-103 and Cd-105, have been
studied using the reactions Zr-94(O-16,alpha 3n)Pd-103 and Zr-94(O-16,
5n)Cd-105. The vh(11/2) yrast bands in both nuclei are extended up to
spin 47/2h, past the first band-crossing. The observed increase in ali
gnment in both bands is significantly lower than in analogous bands in
the heavier odd-N isotopes, where the alignment is thought to be due
to a pair of low-Omega h(11/2) neutrons. The relatively low increase i
n alignment in Pd-103 and Cd-105 is consistent with cranked shell mode
l calculations which predict that at low deformation both the (g(9/2))
(2) proton and the (g(7/2))(2) neutron alignments are favoured in thes
e N = 57 isotones, over the (h(11/2))(2) neutron alignment.
