In the CaO-CuO system, the intermediate phase stable at low temperatur
es is CaCuO2, although its stability range is narrow. Besides this, no
nstoichiometry and incommensurability effects complicate its preparati
ve chemistry and characterization. The use of different precursors is
compared to show the influence of the procedural variables not only in
the morphology but also in the stoichiometry of the resulting solid,
Ca1-xCuO2 (0 less-than-or-equal-to x less-than-or-equal-to 0.14).
