A. Govindaraj et al., INVESTIGATIONS ON C-70H30 OBTAINED BY THE BIRCH REDUCTION OF C-70, Proceedings of the Indian Academy of Sciences. Chemical sciences, 105(4-5), 1993, pp. 303-309
Upon Birch reduction, C70 forms C70H30 as a major product. Besides rep
orting spectroscopic properties, we discuss the possible structures of
C70H30 and suggest that the most stable structure is derived by exclu
sive 1,4-addition to the corannulene units and to the central pentaphe
nyl belt in C70.
