This research study considers the performance of a computer model that
considers the directional response of a photosensor and the applicati
on of the Perez daylight model in the analysis of da) light-responsive
dimming systems. Field measurements were undertaken to evaluate the a
bility of a computer model to predict both the photosensor signal and
the dimming level/energy consumption of an installed system. Weather d
ata from nearby weather stations was used as input to the Perez daylig
ht model. The results from predictions and field measurements show gen
erally good agreement between measurements and predictions. Issues tha
t affect the relative agreement between predictions and measurements a
re also discussed.
