Abstract
For practical reasons, numerical modelling of transport, transformatio n and deposition of atmospheric pollutants requires the parameterizati on of wet removal in terms of scavenging coefficients. In this paper, the scavenging coefficient-precipitation intensity relationships for d ifferent types of precipitation are derived. The variety of the obtain ed scavenging coefficients shows the importance of microphysical param eterizations. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
