The study analyzes the relation between three basic concepts: Authorit
arianism, prejudices, and acculturation. Against the background of a m
odified Social Dominance Theory (Sidanius, 1992) the concepts are conn
ected in a causal order. A model is presented which defines authoritar
ianism as a dominance-orientation and prejudices as a legitimizing ide
ology for dominance-orientations. The attitudes toward acculturations
are to be explained. The attitudes of 201 students towards Aussiedler,
i.e. ethnic Germans immigrating into the Federal Republic from easter
n Europe, are measured by questionnaires. In this way new operationali
sations of the constructs are tested. The theoretical model was be con
firmed in its essential points.
