The oxidative stability of different oils was determined by a Rancimat
apparatus. Samples of oils obtained at definite time intervals from t
he Rancimat were measured by a chemiluminescence method. Thereby the h
ydroperoxides formed during the first step of the autoxidation and rad
icals react in presence of a catalyst with Luminol. The results are pr
esented in dependence of the storage time and discussed with relation
to the results of the Rancimat apparatus. There is a good correlation
between both methods (r = 0.9865).
