Abstract
Highly specific enzymes which activate 3,4-dimethylindole-2-carboxylat e (DMI) and 4-(1-hydroxyethyl)quinoline-2-carboxylate (HEQ) to their a cyl adenylates have been detected in cell-free extracts of the nosihep tide and thiostrepton producers, S. actuosus and S. laurentii, by an A TP/PP(i) exchange assay.
