The electrical properties of composite nickel matrix electrodeposits p
repared under direct current (DC) and pulse current (PC) regimes, are
presented in this work. The codeposition of liquid-containing microcap
sules (mu caps) along with the metal matrix from electrolytic baths ha
s led to the development of electrocoatings with pre-specified propert
ies. The behaviour of oil-containing polymeric wall mu caps in the nic
kel matrix for self-lubrication during fretting and cooling during tra
nsient contact operation has been investigated. Different preparation
conditions have been employed. Their contact resistance and interfacia
l temperature have been monitored under constant axial contact force u
sing low current excitations. SEM and XRD analysis were applied for th
e examination of inter-electrode surfaces towards investigating their
structural characteristics.
