The microstructure and orientation of the nickel matrix in electrodepo
sited Ni-PSZ gradient coating, were investigated. With the increase in
the PSZ particle content in gradient coating through thickness, the n
ickel grains gradually become fine and even and the defects in the nic
kel matrix gradually decrease due to increasing cathodic polarization
during electrodeposition. The nickel matrix in gradient coating has in
tensive preferred orientation of [200] planes which slightly weakens w
ith the increase in the PSZ content. Heat-treatment eliminates the mic
rostructural change of the nickel matrix, but has no influence on pref
erred orientation of the nickel matrix.
