Abstract
In this article we report the successful locking and operation of an 8 m Michelson interferometer which uses multistage cantilever spring vi bration isolators. The control system for normal mode damping is descr ibed. The performance and dominant noise sources of this interferomete r are discussed. (C) 1998 American Institute of Physics.
