Abstract
A synthetic analogue of a trisaccharide fragment of the Trypanosoma br ucei Variant Surface Glycoprotein (VSG) GlycosylPhosphatidylInositiol (GPI) anchor, Gal-alpha-1,3(Man-alpha-1,6)-Man-alpha-O-octyl (1), serv es as a substrate for two T. brucei alpha-galactosyltransferases. The principle tetrasaccharide product derived from (1) contains a Gal-alph a-1,2-Gal linkage. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
