Abstract
Several studies [5,6] on the prevalence of psychiatric disorders among migrants describe a higher rate of schizophrenic disorders. Other stu dies [2,3] as well as DSM-IV [1] point out that affective disorders wi th psychotic symptoms can be misdiagnosed as schizophrenic or schizoaf fective disorders. We report on a patient admitted with the diagnosis of paranoid schizophrenia (ICD-10: F20.0), discussing differential dia gnostic criteria and the problems of diagnosing along ICD-10 criteria.
