The authors report a case of sterno-costo-clavicular arthritis due to
Haemophilus aphrophilus. This bacteria which belongs to the H.A.C.E.K.
group is a commonly found in the mouth. It was isolated in cultures f
rom blood and sterno-costo-clavicular abscess in a 43 year-old patient
. Evolution was favorable after abscess drainage and antibiotherapy fo
r 7 weeks. This case was unusual because of the infection site and the
nature of the bacteria in an immunocompetent patient. Infection could
be linked to dental care in the previous weeks.
