The catalytic performance of methane aromatization in the absence of o
xygen over Mo-based catalysts using the fourth period transitional met
al ions exchanged HZSM-5 as the supports have been studied in the pape
r. Moreover, the activity of the catalysts was correlated with the amo
unt of deposited carbon over the catalysts after reaction, By introduc
tion of transitional metal ions to the exchanged sites of H-ZSM-5, the
metal ions acted as the promoters and controlled the production of de
posited carbon, so enhanced activity and stability of the catalysts to
some extent. Among the ions exchanged MoO3/MHZSM-5 catalysts, those e
xchanged with Cu2+, Fe3+, VO2+ and Mn2+ have a relatively high activit
y and stability.
