Abstract
The trifluoroacetate salt of aspartic acid beta-semialdehyde, an impor tant intermediate in the biosynthesis Of L-lysine, L-threonine, and L- methionine has been prepared in DL-, L-, and D-forms as stable solid h ydrates 13 in 43 % overall yield by ozonolysis of doubly protected all ylglycine, followed by careful deprotection with trifluoroacetic acid.
