Abstract
1,1-Diiodoalkenes 1 were readily prepared from carbonyl compounds 2 an d diethyl diiodomethylphosphonate (3), generated in situ from commerci al diethyl iodomethylphosphonate (4) or diethyl methylphosphonate (5). Starting from aldehydes, iodoacetylenes 6 could be obtained directly in situ by dehydrohalogenation of diiodoalkenes 1.
