Abstract
Psychological factors of temporomandibular disorder patients are belie ved to have a significant role in the aetiology and maintenance of the disorders. Sixty-two temporomandibular disorder patients, 67 dental p atients, and 70 asymptomatic subjects were compared for psychometric p rofile by using a self-report symptom inventory. Temporomandibular dis order patients were more depressed and anxious than dental patients an d asymptomatic subjects, and were also more somatized than asymptomati c subjects.
