Abstract
We report a new direct method for calculating Regge pole positions and residues. Upon introduction of an absorbing optical potential suffici ently far in the asymptotic region, the problem reduces to several ite rative diagonalizations of a symmetric complex matrix. The method is t ested on well-studied cases of potential scattering.
