The polarization-resolved photoabsorption cross section has been calcu
lated in the vicinity of the 3p --> 3d giant dipole resonances of Fe (
45-65 eV) and Mn (45-60 eV) using the relativistic time-dependent loca
l spin-density approximation. The method accounts for the largest feat
ures in the unpolarized experimental total cross sections, after Gauss
ian broadening is applied; however, minor features are not given corre
ctly. Both circular and linear dichroic spectra are presented, however
experimental data are not yet available.
