M. Uluitu et al., BLOOD-SERUM AND NACL EFFECTS ON THE DIALYSIS OF SEROTONIN IN THE PRESENCE OF HEPARIN, AS A TEST FOR POSSIBLE BEHAVIOR DISTURBANCES, Journal of trace and microprobe techniques, 16(3), 1998, pp. 371-375
The addition of blood serum from normal individuals did not alter appr
eciably the features of serotonin dialysis in the presence of heparin.
With blood serum taken from rats susceptible to audiogenic convulsion
s, or from children suffering from behaviour disturbances of a constit
utional type, the time course of serotonin dialysis became comparable
to that in the absence of heparin (or in the presence of heparin plus
a large concentration of NaCl). Serotonin dialysis thus appears as a p
ossible physico-chemical indicator of behaviour disturbances.
