Fh. Bloomfield et al., THE ROLE OF NEONATAL CHEST PHYSIOTHERAPY IN PREVENTING POSTEXTUBATIONATELECTASIS, The Journal of pediatrics, 133(2), 1998, pp. 269-271
We retrospectively assessed atelectasis in 297 postextubation radiogra
phs from 220 babies who underwent ventilation over a 2-year period. AL
L 95 babies in the first year received peri-extubation chest physiothe
rapy; none of the 125 babies in the second year received chest physiot
herapy. There was no difference in the incidence of postextubation ate
lectasis between the two groups.
