Abstract
Peak intensities of 10(19) W cm(2) have been reliably obtained from a high power Nd:glass laser using chirped pulse amplification. An Additi ve Pulse Modelocked oscillator incorporating diode pumped Nd:LMA was u sed to generate the sub-picosecond pulse. The focal spot intensity dis tribution has been characterized in detail showing a three times diffr action limited beam.
