Two cross-linkable monomers, diallyl ether of dibromoneopentylglycol a
nd diallyl ether of bromobutendiol, have been used as curing agents fo
r unsaturated polyester resins in paint coatings. Both monomers were a
cting effectively against oxygen inhibition. Bromine in their molecule
s decrease the flammability of the obtained products. Monomers have be
en obtained in direct allylation by use of allyl bromide on interphase
in the presence of proper catalysts-triethylallylammonium chloride. T
he obtained resins were ultraviolet curable. A photocuring system cons
isting of mono- or diazide and hydroxyalkylphenone has been applied. T
he optimum amount of azide was found to be at 15 wt%.
