Statement of problem. The rationale of preimplant surgery is the creat
ion of an environment that is favorable to the function and long-term
survival of endosseous dental implants. Indications for this type of s
urgery depend on anatomic conditions, implant type, and design of the
superstructure. One essential requirement for successful implantation
is the presence of sufficient bone in which the implants are placed. B
esides the quantity of bone, the quality of bone and the intermaxillar
y relation play an important role. Purpose. This article presents an o
verview of several techniques for specific implant conditions.
