Abstract
In the swarm Sounding wasp, Polybia scutellaris, the worker and the qu een caste ni-e morphologically distinct. Only queens have activated ov aries and are inseminated. Queens ale larger in 9 morphometric charact ers analysed. Caste differences in polistine wasps and in particular i n the polygynous colonies of the neotropical Epiponini are discussed.
