Abstract
We investigate an intermediate state of light held which interpolates between a number state \ N > and a coherent state \ alpha >, thus cons tituting an alternative to the binomial state. Comparison of nonclassi cal effects emerging from these two scenarios is discussed Additional discussion concerning photon-number distribution is also considered.
