Hemobilia is a rare but recognizable complication of percutaneous tran
shepatic diagnostic or therapeutic procedures. The diagnosis is someti
mes difficult because of the time lag between the procedure and the fi
rst symptoms, which can be intermittent. A 35-year-old woman had hemob
ilia after percutaneous Tru-cut biopsy of the liver followed by laparo
scopic cholecystectomy. The diagnosis of hemobilia was made on clinica
l grounds, and a pseudoaneurysm of the right hepatic artery was detect
ed on selective angiography. The patient was successfully treated with
arterial embolization during angiography.
