Abstract
We report on a 13-month-old girl who developed Kasabach-Merritt syndro me because of sinusoidal hemangiomatosis of the spleen. The combinatio n of consumption coagulopathy and tumor of the spleen suggested a vasc ular process. Discussion: For a tumor of the spleen, sinusoidal hemang iomatosis has to be considered as differential diagnosis. Splenectomy is the treatment of choice when consumption coagulopathy occurs.
