Abstract
Continuous fibre-reinforced thermoplastics parts containing more than 35% fibre by volume can be joined with very high strength by linear vi bration welding. Glass-fibre-reinforced polyamide 12 even reaches the interlaminar shear strength of the unwelded laminate. With process-con trolled welding-pressure reduction, a significant reduction of 20% in cycle-time could be achieved.
