Abstract
A simple temperature control system fur ultrahigh vacuum (UHV) surface science applications has been developed. It is based on commercially available components and can be constructed with minimal electronics e xpertise. It controls the temperature of a single crystal sample in UH V over the range 80-1633 It using a type K thermocouple to monitor the temperature of the sample. The controller can be used to provide temp erature ramps over the range 0-10 K/s. (C) 1988 American Institute of Physics.
