Abstract
A well known method for residual or redundancy generation is extended to systems with unknown inputs. It is based on the singular form of th e system equations which allows the generation of the substate of the system which is insensitive to the unknown inputs. This generation is achieved by a two-step algorithm, including, first, the elimination of the unknown inputs and second, the generation of the redundancy equat ions. Using these results for fault detection and isolation, we presen t a simulated example to illustrate our method.
