Abstract
Synthetic Tl-2 (MoO3)(3)PO3CH3 is built up from infinite sheets of dis torted octahedral MoO6 groups, sharing vertices, These octahedral laye rs are ''capped'' by P-CH3 entities las tetrahedral methylphosphonate PO3CH32- groups) on one face of each Mo/O sheet, Interlayer thallium c ations provide charge compensation for the anionic sheets. Physical da ta are described, Crystal data: Tl-2(MoO3)(3)PO3CH3, M-r = 934.56, rho mbohedral, space group R3 (No, 146), a = 7.281 (1) Angstrom, c = 18.93 2 (2) Angstrom, V = 869.0 (3) Angstrom(3), Z = 3, R(F) = 4.76%, R-w (F ) = 5.35% [824 observed reflections with I > 3 sigma(I)].
