P. Anezinis et al., MRI AND CT FEATURES IN 2 UNUSUAL CASES OF XANTHOGRANULOMATOUS PYELONEPHRITIS, European journal of radiology, 28(1), 1998, pp. 98-101
Two unusual cases of xanthogranulomatous pyelonephritis studied by bot
h magnetic resonance imaging and computed tomography, are presented. E
xtension of the disease depicted by both computed tomography and magne
tic resonance imaging was compatible with the findings at surgery. Com
puted tomography seems to be sufficient for xanthogranulomatous pyelon
ephritis imaging evaluation, while magnetic resonance imaging is not r
ecommended on a routine basis, since no additional valuable informatio
n is yielded. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science Ireland Ltd. All rights reserv
