Abstract
The paper presents the main aspects of a numerical model aimed at eval uating the response of cylindrical structures subjected to vortex shed ding excitation. The model can asses displacement amplitude and stress es for wind velocities lower than/equal to/greater than the critical w ind speed. In the lock-in range it can simulate the displacement limit ation due both to damping or to aeroelastic force equilibrium. (C) 199 8 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
