C. Karunakaran et Pn. Palanisamy, KINETIC-STUDY ON MOLYBDENUM(VI) AND TUNGSTEN(VI) CATALYZED PERBORATE (HYDROGEN-PEROXIDE) OXIDATION OF N-METHYLANILINE, Afinidad, 55(475), 1998, pp. 229-231
Perborate in aqueous acetic acid affords hydrogen peroxide and the mol
ybdenum(VI) and tungsten(VI) catalyzed oxidations of N-methylaniline f
ollow the rate law Rate = A[M] [PhNHMe](2) [oxidant] / 1+B[oxidant] at
50 degrees C: where A = 4.6 x 10(2), 2.5 x 10(2) dm(3) mol(-3) s(-1)
and B = 9.5 x 10(2), 2.1 x 10(2) dm(3) mol(-1) when M is Mo(VI) and W(
VI), respectively. The kinetic results point to (N-methylbenzenamine)o
xodiperoxomolybdenum(VI) or -tungsten(VI) as the oxidizing species.
