CELLULAR base-station receivers place stringent demands on analog-to-d
igital converters (ADCs). The ideal base-station ADC must provide enou
gh bandwidth to handle multiple-carrier intermediate-frequency (LF) si
gnals and enough spurious-free dynamic range (SFDR) to minimize distor
tion. The ADS852 14-b ADC from Burr-Brown Corp. (Tucson, AZ) offers a
100-dB SFDR and 75-dB signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) [both parameters at
20 MHz] together with a 65-MHz sample rate to accommodate the digitiza
tion needs of most base-station receivers.
