M. Makosza et al., CONVENIENT PREPARATION OF METALS DEPOSITED ON SOLID SUPPORTS AND THEIR USE IN ORGANIC-SYNTHESIS, Tetrahedron, 54(36), 1998, pp. 10827-10836
''High-surface alkali metals'' can be conveniently prepared via deposi
tion of corresponding metals on various supports such as sodium chlori
de, polyethylene, polypropylene and cross-linked polystyrene from thei
r solutions in liquid ammonia. Alkali metals deposited on polymeric su
pports can be stored in form of stable suspensions in inert solvents a
nd used for the acyloin and Dieckmann condensations and for preparatio
n of organolithiums. Addition of the suspension of supported alkali me
tal to a solution of zinc chloride gave an active zinc on polymeric su
pport which can be used for the Reformatski and Barbier reactions. (C)
