C. Casano et al., DECILIATION - A STRESSFUL EVENT FOR PARACENTROTUS-LIVIDUS EMBRYOS, Biochemical and biophysical research communications (Print), 248(3), 1998, pp. 628-634
In this report, by using mono- and two-dimensional electrophoretic ana
lysis, we demonstrate that deciliation on sea urchin embryos induces a
stress response. Deciliation indeed causes not only the activation of
ciliary subroutine, but also a transient decrease of bulk protein syn
thesis. This decrease is in agreement with our previous results on hea
t shock response in sea urchin, although deciliation does not induce t
he expression of the same main hsp set. We were able to characterize o
ne main deciliation-stress protein of 40 kDa whose expression is trans
iently induced by deciliation and whose localisation is likely to be n
uclear. (C) 1998 Academic Press.
