The question of the survivability of quark nuggets against the process
of baryon evaporation from their surfaces is studied within the conte
xt of a dynamical model, namely, the chromoelectric flux-tube fission
model of baryon formation and evaporation. Depending on the temperatur
e at which nuggests are formed in the early Universe and the value of
the bag constant B, our conservative estimates (we overestimate the ba
ryon evaporation rate) show that quark nuggets with an initial baryon
number approximately 10(44) or more can survive the evaporation proces
s and be present in the Universe today.
