N. Karak et al., ANTIMONY POLYMERS (PART-4) - ELECTRICAL-PROPERTIES OF ANTIMONY POLYMERS AND BLENDS, INDIAN JOURNAL OF CHEMICAL TECHNOLOGY, 5(4), 1998, pp. 217-221
The electrical properties of three antimony containing polymers and th
eir blends with polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) have been studied. The bulk as
well as surface resistivity of these polymers indicate that the polym
ers behave like a semiconducting material evident from the values of b
ulk resistivity (10(9) to 10(8) ohm ohm cm) and surface resistivity (1
0(-1) to 10(-3) ohm) of the polymers at room temperature. The effects
of electric field and temperature on resistivity of the polymers have
also been investigated. Variation of dielectric constant and loss of t
he polymers with frequency (100 Hz to 10 Id-It) and temperature (room
temperature to 80 degrees C) has been studied. The change of electrica
l (bulk) conductivity of the blends with the blend composition has als
o been investigated. The band gap of the samples was found to be varyi
ng from 1.9 to 1.12 eV.
