Abstract
The authors present a new system for variable speed using a double-fed induction machine. With a special operating mode, the apparent power of the inverter can reach only 20% of the maximum mechanical power, co mpared to a classical solution which needs 120%. Control laws are also studied with and without a sensor and they are particularly robust. T he approach is validated by simulations and experimental results.
